لوله های PEG در بیماران نیازمند به تغذیه طولانی مدت مورد استفاده قرار می گیرد. این لوله را معمولا می توان در بیمارانی که از تسهیلات وسیع مراقبتی استفاده می نمایند مشاهده نمود. اینکه بیماری حاد چگونه بسرعت برطرف می گردد، مهم نیست بلکه خطر سوء تغذیه با عوارض جدی ناشی از جابجایی مستقیم لوله PEG از اهمیت خاصی برخوردار است. در این مقاله، نحوه قرارگیری لوله PEG، فیکس کردن و باز بودن مجرای آن و همچنین توصیه های لازم در مورد مراقبت از آن و چگونگی مشکلات رایج تغذیه ای مورد بحث و بررسی قرار می گیرد.
